STEP 8: BUDGETING AND
MATCHING GRANTS
Training and advertising messages require a budget. Think long-term and refer to
the Planning Kit for assistance in developing a budget. Igniting Ministry
offers dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $50,000 each to United
Methodist churches and conferences to conduct local/regional Igniting Ministry
television campaigns. Application forms with more information are available
here.
STEP 9. CREATING A MEDIA PLAN
A general list of instructions and information for creating a media plan is
available in The Planning Kit. Handbook chapters 1-3 includes specific,
detailed instructions on training, target audience, expression options,
budgeting, media options and customization.
STEP 10: OPEN HOUSE MONTH
United Methodist Open House Month, reinforcing the promise of open hearts, open
minds and doors made by national spots airing in September. The month also
marks the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Igniting Ministry asks that your congregation plan a "Remembering 9/11" service
of remembrance for those lost in the national tragedy. Your church could be a
place the community will gather to remember and to pray for wisdom, comfort and
healing.
